Our team led by JamiiAfrica’s Executive Director, Maxence Melo; Director of Programs, Ziada Seukindo; Professor Shepherd Mpofu from the University of South Africa (UNISA), who is a key member of our Research and Development unit and Mr. Nigel Nyamutumbu, the country coordinator, concluded a productive learning mission in Zimbabwe, the third of its kind after similar visits to Uganda and Kenya.

This initiative is an important step in our plan to develop and use local tools that help content creators and improve media integrity at the country level and is part of a broader, long-term commitment to empower local voices and ensure that our tools are managed by those in the community.

During this visit, the delegation met with a wide range of stakeholders who are essential to the country’s information ecosystem. This included state-owned and independent media houses, journalists, digital innovators, policy-makers, regulatory bodies, civil society organizations, and student groups. These discussions were invaluable, giving us a complete view of the challenges and opportunities for a better and more credible information environment.
JamiiAfrica is very thankful to all the individuals and organizations in Zimbabwe who generously took the time to share their expertise with us. The connections we formed are the foundation of what we hope will be a lasting and impactful collaboration.
