From October 20 to 23, 2025, JamiiAfrica conducted a four-day training workshop for 10 young content creators aimed at improving access to information. Five participants were from Dar es Salaam, while the remaining five came from other regions.
The workshop covered reporting on sensitive topics such as bribery, practical fact-checking techniques using various verification tools, ethical considerations when researching sensitive issues, and how to manage potential legal risks. Participants also received training in public interest and investigative journalism in Tanzania, as well as digital literacy and security.
Sessions addressed safe digital communication and strategies for protecting against online threats, including hacking and other digital attacks.
Participants praised the four-day format, noting that it allowed for in-depth engagement with a wide range of topics and meaningful interaction with field experts.
The training aligns with JamiiAfrica’s strategic objective of equipping journalists and media practitioners with the skills, tools, and security knowledge needed to use digital platforms effectively, support courageous reporting, and strengthen coverage of corruption, abuses, and other issues of public interest.
