JamiiAfrica participated in the 20th Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2025), held from June 23 to 27, 2025, in Lillestrøm, Norway. This global gathering brought together stakeholders from governments, the private sector, civil society, academia, the technical community, and international organizations representing both developing and developed countries along with others invested in shaping the future of the internet.
The forum served as a platform for uniting efforts to preserve an open, secure, and inclusive internet that benefits all. Stakeholders underscored the need for collaborative action to uphold human rights and democratic values in the digital sphere.
On June 24, JamiiAfrica’s Executive Director, Maxence Melo, was a key speaker in a panel discussion on “Public Interest Infrastructure.” He shared insights on the vital role of JamiiAfrica in advancing public interest by enabling access to information, promoting transparency, and fostering accountability in Tanzania.
This engagement reflects one of JamiiAfrica’s core commitments—working with like-minded partners to advocate for a global coalition on digital public interest infrastructure, ensuring that information remains accessible to all.
