JamiiCheck conducted training in information verification and fact-checking for 34 journalism students from the University of Dodoma’s School of Media in Dodoma City. The training provided participants with practical digital verification techniques to help combat misinformation and disinformation.
The two-day training, held from January 28 to 29, 2026, introduced students to the broader concept of misinformation, including how false information is created and disseminated, and its impact on society.

In addition, JamiiCheck strengthened participants’ capacity to use modern digital verification tools, including artificial intelligence (AI), to identify, verify, and prevent the spread of unverified or misleading information.
These activities align with JamiiAfrica’s broader institutional mission to build the capacity of citizens, journalists, and media practitioners by equipping them with the skills and tools needed to navigate online spaces effectively. This includes digital content creation, data verification, and fact-checking to counter misinformation and disinformation and promote responsible, informed reporting.
Through these initiatives, JamiiAfrica expects journalists and digital content creators to be better prepared to operate in digital environments, verify information accurately, and produce comprehensive coverage that supports honest and constructive public dialogue.
