JamiiAfrica has officially signed a two-year partnership agreement with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Tanzania, marking an important milestone in advancing democratic governance, freedom of expression, digital resilience, and meaningful citizen participation across the country.
The partnership was formalized by Mr. Sondre Bjotveit, Head of Cooperation at the Norwegian Embassy, and Mr. Maxence Melo, Executive Director of JamiiAfrica. Through this collaboration, both institutions will work together to promote inclusive civic engagement, strengthen accountability mechanisms, and support a safer, more open, and resilient digital environment for citizens.
The partnership aligns with JamiiAfrica’s Strategic Plan 2025–2030, which outlines the organization’s vision of evolving from a trusted digital platform into a regional enabler of civil society, independent media, and accountable governance. The strategy focuses on strengthening secure digital public infrastructure, amplifying citizen voices, expanding digital literacy and safety skills, and leveraging citizen-generated evidence to encourage responsive institutions.
Through its mission of Informing, Engaging, and Empowering, JamiiAfrica continues to create platforms where citizens can access credible information, participate in constructive dialogue, and contribute to shaping accountable and responsive governance systems.
The Strategic Plan recognizes the importance of long-term partnerships in building sustainable civic ecosystems. By working with development partners, civil society organizations, media actors, technology stakeholders, and other institutions, JamiiAfrica seeks to strengthen collaboration and create lasting impact in advancing digital inclusion, civic participation, and democratic values.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment between JamiiAfrica and the Norwegian Embassy to promote citizen-centered governance, protect civic space, and support a more inclusive, accountable, and digitally empowered future for Tanzania.
