JamiiAfrica, in partnership with Access Now, the principal organizer of RightsCon, has agreed to a strategic collaboration to ensure that RightsCon 2026 achieves maximum impact. This partnership aims, among other objectives, to facilitate strong participation from diverse actors across Africa.
The 14th edition of RightsCon will take place in Lusaka, Zambia, and online, from Tuesday, May 5 to Friday, May 8, 2026, highlighting the strength, resilience, and global importance of Africa’s digital rights community. This marks the first time the summit is hosted in Southern Africa and the first return to the continent since RightsCon 2019 in Tunis.
Each year, RightsCon brings together business leaders, policymakers, general counsels, government representatives, technologists, academics, journalists, and human rights advocates from around the world to address critical challenges at the intersection of human rights and technology.
Through engaging fireside chats, hands-on workshops, strategic roundtables, private meetings, and a vibrant exhibition space, RightsCon serves as a platform for a global movement to unite, develop strategies, and advance a more free, open, and connected digital world.
This initiative aligns with one of JamiiAfrica’s key objectives: to strengthen citizens’ digital resilience, enhance digital literacy, protect the right to privacy, and promote digital inclusion. It reflects our steadfast commitment to safeguarding digital rights as a cornerstone for sustainable social, economic, and democratic development.
