JamiiAfrica, at the invitation of the Union of Tanzania Press Clubs (UTPC), trained 21 journalists in Tabora Region on fact-checking and information verification in preparation for the upcoming General Election.
The two-day training, held on October 1–2, 2025, enhanced participants’ understanding of misinformation—how it is produced and spread, its impact on democratic processes, and strategies to curb its dissemination.
Journalists were also introduced to modern digital verification tools, the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the role of the JamiiCheck platform in advancing information integrity across Africa.
This initiative is part of JamiiAfrica’s ongoing work to engage diverse groups. The organization aims to collaborate with like-minded partners to combat disinformation, promote credible reporting, and establish rapid response mechanisms to challenge false narratives, especially during elections and crises.
The ultimate goal is to equip journalists and other digital content creators with the skills to navigate online spaces, verify information, and provide accurate, in-depth coverage—thereby fostering honest public dialogue and ensuring citizens have access to reliable information.
