World Press Freedom Day 2025

April 29, 2025 – The second day of Tanzania’s national celebrations for World Press Freedom Day 2025 was marked by a high-profile event officiated by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa. The gathering brought together media professionals, government officials, and key stakeholders to reflect on the current state of press freedom in the country.

The celebrations began on April 27 with a 5-kilometer Fun Run that attracted journalists, media stakeholders, and members of the public. On April 28, participants took part in panel discussions focused on the changing media landscape, including the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in journalism and strategies for content creators in an era of rapid technological advancement.

Discussions highlighted both the opportunities and challenges posed by new technologies, while underscoring the need for ethical, responsible, and forward-thinking media practices.
