On August 27 – 29, 2025, at the East African Communication Association (EACA) Conference 2025, JamiiAfrica hosted a panel discussion themed “Rebuilding Public Trust: Digital Tools and Citizen-Centered Strategies in the Fight Against Disinformation in Africa.” The session focused on sharing learnings and best practices for tackling mis- and disinformation through citizen-centered approaches.
JamiiAfrica showcased the JamiiForums platform, emphasizing how digital tools designed with citizens at the center can drive real-life impact. This was demonstrated through a case study from the secure and anonymous whistleblowing tool, Fichua Uovu.
The organization also presented its fact-checking platform, JamiiCheck, highlighting the 972 stories fact-checked to date and providing insights into the targets, sources, and manipulation techniques behind disinformation.
The session further underscored JamiiAfrica’s commitment to capacity building and engaging with regional and international actors and development partners. It also emphasized collaboration with CSOs, academia, advocacy groups, and the private sector to share resources, amplify efforts, and promote shared accountability.
