From June 2 to 6, JamiiAfrica participated in CSO Week 2025, themed “Pathways to Progress.” This theme offers a timely and strategic framework to address Tanzania’s development goals, particularly in light of the upcoming elections, Vision 2050, and global challenges such as climate change, economic instability, and geopolitical tensions.
CSO Week provided a platform for dialogue and collaboration among civil society organizations (CSOs) and between CSOs and the Tanzanian government. During the event, JamiiAfrica, in partnership with Tanzania Bora Initiative, BBC Media Action, and LHRC, hosted a dynamic session titled “Reimagining Media as a Catalyst for Social Change and Public Good in Tanzania.”
The discussion emphasized the vital role media can play in creating community impact when grounded in solid research and presented in formats that engage key audiences, especially youth and marginalized groups. JamiiAfrica also warned about the dangers of misinformation and stressed the importance of protecting journalistic integrity.
This session aligned with JamiiAfrica’s core goal of equipping journalists and digital content creators with the skills needed to navigate digital platforms, verify information, and deliver comprehensive coverage that fosters honest and informed public dialogue.
