From 4–8 May 2026, JamiiAfrica participated in a capacity-building training for children’s journalists in Dar es Salaam, organized by the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups in collaboration with UNICEF.
Promoting child welfare requires informed and empowered voices capable of shaping public understanding and driving meaningful action.
Held under the theme “A Better Family, A Strong Nation,” the five-day training equipped media professionals with knowledge and skills to promote positive parenting practices, with a focus on caring for, protecting, and effectively communicating with children.
Participants explored key issues affecting children and families, including maternal nutrition, online safety, disability inclusion, and adolescent care. The training aimed to strengthen journalists’ ability to use their platforms to raise awareness and advocate for a safer and healthier environment for children.
For JamiiAfrica, the engagement aligns with its commitment to empowering citizens through credible information, strengthening informed civic participation, and bridging knowledge gaps. By connecting digital and community conversations, such initiatives contribute to building a culture of evidence-based reporting and constructive public dialogue.
