Four years to go before the year 2015 but still Tanzanian children are struggling to fully achieve the second United Nations Millennium Development Goal of Universal Primary Education (UPE). This has been witnessed recently as most of these children lack essential needs like shoes, fresh and safe water, school bags etc. Comments are welcome!
FETCHING WATER:
Students at Ihahi primary school in Mbarali district, Mbeya region were spotted recently carrying large buckets of water from a canal some 700m at 8:30 while they were supposed to be in classes. They say the whole school has to water flower beds before entering classes at exactly 8:30!
MATAMU EEH?!
Matamu eeeh?! This kid on the left from Kapunga primary school in Mbarali district seems to ask his fellow if the water he was drinking from a water tape was taste.
WE CAN READ NEWSPAPERS!
But we can read newspapers! These primary school girls were spotted reading newspapers' headlines at Chimala in Mbeya region recently.
MCHAKA MCHAKA! …CHINJA!!
Mchaka mchaka, chinja! Pupils are jogging before going to class at Nghambi village, Dodoma district. I remember those times when we used to sing:"Alisema, alisema, alisema Nyerere alisema, vijana wangu wote mmelegea, sasa tuanze mchaka mchaka!"
Yebo Yebo sandals and slippers are the only 'shoes' that Nghambi primary school pupils could afford as school uniform.
But some of them walk barefooted. This is real life!!!
